As a few of you guys may know, I love mermaids. I love everything about the beach, the sun, the ocean, seashells and sea-life, it just all makes me so happy. So I've decided to show you guys how to make my favorite "mermaid" treat, Starfish cookies!
Ingredients
1/2 a cup of softened butter
3/4 a cup of sugar
1 egg
3/4 a teaspoon of vanilla extract
2 cups of flour
1/2 a teaspoon of baking soda
1/2 a teaspoon of salt
Star-shaped cookie cutters
Frosting and decorations (optional)
*The recipe can serve about 3-4 dozen cookies, depending on the size of your cookie cutters.
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit, and have two cookie sheets lined with foil. Then, take your cookie sheets and spray on cooking spray.
2. Take your softened butter and cream it in a large mixing bowl. Then, add your sugar until the dough looks light and fluffy. After it looks fluffy, add your egg and vanilla, and stir it well.
3. Combine your flour, baking soda, and salt in a SEPERATE bowl. Stir, and add to your creamy dough, and blend it well. If the dough ends up a little tough to mix and stiff, you're doing it correctly.
4. Divide the dough into thirds. Roll out dough onto a lightly floured surface until it appears to be somewhere near 1/8 of an inch thick. Take your cookie cutters and begin cutting out your beautiful new creatures. Place them 2 inches apart from each other on your prepared cookie sheets.
5. Bake for 8-10 minutes, or until it appears slightly brown in color. Remove it from the oven carefully, gently move your starfish onto a cooling rack for around 15 minutes, and then you can enjoy eating your starfish, or you can frost and decorate them the way you like and present it to your other mermaid friends:)
